Resurrection Colcha was designed to allow the participants in the project to reconnect to a craft that was not very important until now. That their mothers, fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers may have understood, valued and practiced, but that disappeared in their generation. By resurrecting and revisiting these methods the participants reconnect to a culture of DIY, pattern, patience and pride. In creating this colcha together the participants work together to learn these skills while approaching the traditions with a new sense of purpose and intention. The meetings become spaces of exchange and dialogue and the project presents an opportunity to resurrect craft as well as the ideals of the handmade object.
